Papa’s in town

Max: the big news in your life is that you are really, really into fire trucks.  It’s unclear exactly why: you can’t know it’s all about cool men fighting fires.  You really just know it’s a red truck and a siren.  But whatever it is that you think is going on it’s clear that you think it’s very, very interesting.
We live diagonally across from a fire house. Every time we walk out the door, you point in that direction. We often have to take you to see what’s going on.
You even know that if you get us to pick you up so you can see out the Eastern windows, that you can see one of the trucks that’s parked on the street.  You’ve been so into firetrucks that we took a gift Grandpa Richard bought for you a while ago out of the closet.  It’s a little wooden fire station with a fire truck (in the pictures) that’s technically for ages 4 and up but you seem ready for parts of it now.  Maybe Grandpa Richard saw this coming.
Your Papa Larry’s in town.  You’ve been having a lot of fun visiting.  He brought you a little plastic fire truck and a fireman’s hat.  You are having fun playing with the truck, and brought it with you on our walk.
Of course, nothing substitutes for your Monkey when you are tired.

You had a lot of fun and excitement this weekend. You went to the park with Papa Larry, Dad and Aunt Amy each morning (mommy slept in). Aunt Amy carried you in the baby carrier the whole way – she was very excited to have your company. Then today, Papa larry, Dad and I took you for a swim back at Teardrop Park.

You had your usual grand time playing in the water.  You have been so pooped at the end of the day that you’ve been going to bed a little earlier and sleeping a little later (yay!).  Your doggie Zulu chipped a tooth this weekend and is going to have it pulled tomorrow.  We are all worried for her, poor girl.

Well I, for one, can not get enough of these wonderful weekend escapades; – the best portraits of Max yet.
Max: I see from the pictures of you with the fire truck, that you are poised to stand; – pretty soon!
And Papa Larry must really be chafing at spending so much time with Auntie Amy, you and Daddy. That’s a tough weekend, and I’ll bet Max is not the only tired one now.

MAX – What a fun visit we have had – Central Park every day for our morning walk with your Daddy & Aunt Amy. The weather has been HOT – You enjoyed your swim at Teardrop Park yesterday. You are growing and are starting to get into everything but no walking yet – almost!! You are a darling little guy with a great personality and a fabulous smile – I love the time we spend together!

Finally, glorious satellite again. We have been at-sea for several days crossing the Atlantic from Iceland and Greenland. As interesting as our trip is, I knew I was missing the Mondays-with-you photos. We have finally gotten to the library in Newfoundland, and here I have a computer where I can see you with your fire trucks and warm enough weather to swim. Aren’t you just the explorer now…up and across the rocks and into whatever stream of water is in sight. See you in exactly one week from today. Can’t wait.
