Max’s fourth of July

Max: we went to visit Lola and Uncle Philip this weekend.  Lola surprised us with a giant inflated pool fully equipped with a palm tree, two floating dinosaurs and a waterfall.  Of course, she put all sorts of floating toys in it. Despite the fact that the water was absolutely freezing, you could not get enough of it.  We had to keep fishing you out so you could warm up for a bit.

You were such a big boy traveling and adapting, we were so proud of you.

Your dad took this little video of you on his phone (click on the arrow to play)…

You love an adventure and you are game for anything (except being restrained in moving vehicles)

On an administrative note, I’m trying a photo service called Fotomoto.  Fotomoto prints cards and photographic prints for a fee as well as facilitates sending ecards and providing image downloads for free.  I haven’t tried their service for prints, and they are not a pro printer, but I have heard some good things about them so I figured it was worth a try.  Unfortunately it only partially integrates into the site but you will notice when you click into the main image of a gallery and scroll from there that there’s now a toolbar underneath the images with options.  If you click on an option, you will be redirected to Fotomoto’s site where you will have various purchase options.  I’ve set the price at cost so you can buy inexpensive prints without going through me.  Of course, I’m still happy to make prints for you but this is another way of going about it directly.  Let me know what you think if you try it.

MAX – You’re such a lucky little guy & are having such fun in your new pool when you visited Lola & Uncle Philip! I can tell from your Mom’s photos that you really had a great time. Happy July 4th! Love, Papa

LolaJuly 5, 2010 - 8:59 am

What a super time! What great pictures, Mom! Max: You are the sea lion of the mighty Charles. What chutzpah you have – virtually fearless with water (until you fell, inevitably, flat on your little face); then proceeded with more caution as any sensible lion would do. We’ll have to think of an encore for July 4 2020 to coax you back; by then you’ll be swimming in the river, I’m sure.

Max, wow! This looks amazingly fun. You will quickly learn that Lola has many, many over-the-top fun ideas and is always game to execute them. Also, your auntie was a lifeguard in high school and is ready to assist you with your doggie paddle in the not too distant future. Uncle Grant and I are on a wild west adventure in New Mexico and Colorado right now but we’ll see you back in the city soon. Please tell your mom to tell us the video passcode in the meantime — we can’t see it!

That is the most elaborate and wonderful baby pool. Lola gets a big A+ for finding that and all your toys inside. I haven’t laughed so hard in a long time at your dad’s video of you, Max. The shrieks along with the laughing were hilarious. Way fun time at Lola’s.

Max’s afternoon at the park

Max:  The parks in New York are completely fabulous and are you are getting to the age where you appreciate them.  Your dad and I are going to start taking you to different parks every weekend.  We started with Teardrop park in Battery Park this weekend.  We knew there was water but we weren’t quite prepared to get so soaked.  You could not resist the fountains.  Next time we’ll bring your bathing suit!

PapaJune 28, 2010 - 7:14 am

MAX – What a great idea – you and the New York parks. From your photos, it looks like you are having so much fun. It won’t be long ‘ti you are running around on your own splashing in the water. I love you. Papa

Better than just a bath, huh? This way you can get all wet with friends. Who knew this could be a group activity! Does Zulu like the water, too? Didn’t catch sight of her there. Probably the slide is out for her. You look cute. Susu misses you.

LolaJune 28, 2010 - 11:23 am

Well, so much to see, so much to say:
Double polkys, double chin – Max, you’re getting bigger. Tell Dad it’s not cool to wear sneakers down the slide. I think we’ll have to run a sprinkler when you come here. Bring your bathing suits.

Hey Dad – Cut out all that kissing in public!

Max’s birthday and welcome to mondays with max

Welcome to Monday’s with Max!  Max: your fans still want to look in on you from time to time so while we won’t be torturing you with daily photo shoots, we’ll compile what went on during the week and share it with everyone each Monday.  We’re shaking up the format too – maybe we’ll even figure out how to use the video camera.  Family and friends: we’re looking forward to hearing from you in the comments, as always.

Max: after your birthday party on Saturday, Jean could not help but organize a get together for your friends from the park and from music class.  She invited everyone over in the afternoon to play.  You had a terrific time and received even more wonderful petroleum-based products.  You are great at playing and sharing.  Your toys have officially taken over the house.
